.PRO Escapes Domain Name Hype
The .PRO domain name is one of the seven new generic Top-Level Domains (gTLDs) recently authorized by ICANN. It is reserved exclusively for professional practitioners, which will initially include doctors, lawyers and accountants licensed in the U.S. Licensed professionals will now be able to differentiate themselves through their own med.pro, law.pro or cpa.pro domain name. For example, a medical doctor could register www.DrSmith.med.pro. .PRO is currently in it's pre-registration period and is scheduled to go live on July 1. Read more.

.EU Websites By The End Of The Year
European companies will soon be able to register .EU domain names. A spokesman for the European Commission announced yesterday that websites with the domain name .EU "should be available by the end of the year." Read more.

ICANN Quarterly Meetings in Montreal
The second round of ICANN meetings in 2003 will be held 22-26 June in Montr�al, Canada. The meetings are free to attend, and open to any interested person. ICANN encourages broad participation in its bottom-up consensus-development process. You can take part in these meetings by attending in person, by taking part in the webcast and remote participation opportunities, and/or by joining one of the various ICANN-related mailing lists.
The meetings will be hosted by the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA), which is providing a local website that will give information regarding the area, the meeting, and local hotels. Read more
