INDUSTRY UPDATE
Educause to Manage the .EDU Domains
The U.S. Government announced last Monday that Educause, a non-profit organization will oversee and manage the .EDU top level domain (TLD). The domain had previously been reserved for only 4-year universities and colleges only. However, in a recent press release, Educause stated that they plan to expand the domain, allowing 1600 community colleges to register .EDU addresses. Community colleges will be able to start signing up for .EDU names starting November 12.
